1. Copyright is the complete legal right given to an originator to authorize others to do the same. Essentially, it is the original idea trademarked and owned by writers so that no one else can say the post the same text word for word without the expressed consent of the trademarked writer. Fair Use is the practice where copyrighted material may be quoted as long as it is quoted exactly as it was originally. Of course, credit must be given to the author as well. As a teacher, I would teach my students the importance of these two concepts as well as how to properly quote and credit. I would also stress the importance this skill of quoting will be in college.
2. Lack of Funding: Lack of Funding deals with the fact that the United States doesn't fund education compared to other sects of the government, such as military and campaign spending. To bring awareness to this issue, I must encourage students to do their own research into policies surrounding public education that compares and contrasts the education in their own communities and around the nation. I can also vote in local elections that influence school funding and raise awareness about that too. Doing so can create a healthy relationship with students and their families.
Cyberbullying: Cyberbullying deals with the actions of both young adults and "matured" adults who harass other users online. Cyberbullying can be found on websites such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook and is essentially abuse perpetrated amongst individuals in the online world. Examples include racism, sexual harassment/abuse, stalking, taunting/name-calling, and many more examples. Teaching students about the consequences of bullying and how damaging it can be to both the victim and perpetrator will be important. Hopefully, it can help students think twice before posting something online.
3. Canva offers new skills that are easily obtainable such as website building, newsletter editing, and diagram designs where you can create colorful and unique styles of art. In this most recent assignment, I learned new skills in editing banners and WordArt. This can be incredibly useful for teachers who are able to express their artistic ability to their students in a online atmosphere by creating headers, banners, newsletter, or simple messages at that. Such an editing skill can also be used to pursue other career possibilities in journalism, local and private business, and/or promoting.
